The 80/88hp 4wDM Ruston & Hornsby was a dependable workhorse, ideal for the modest requirements of smaller industrial sites. Several were deployed at whisky distillery sidings across Scotland. This example represents the Glenochil Yeast Factory, located just south of Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, where sidings connected to the Cambus-Alva branch line.
Works No. 245030 was built in 1947 and served the factory yard until 1969, later moving to William Kerr Ltd in Stirling and then to Babcock & Wilcox Ltd, Renfrew, before being retired around 1978.
